Backfilling The Basement I Dug Earlier This Year
Backfilling the basement I dug earlier this year. This is the house where I notched out the basement and built up the front yard. The framers are finally starting on it and I needed to get it and the garage backfilled. I spread a few more loads of clean rock along the perimeter drain then started hauling in clay to build up in front of the garage as well as inside. It was a little sketchy getting the roller in the garage but I made it. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #backfill

Tearing Down A Burnt House
Переглядів 3,3 тис.4 години тому
Tearing down a burnt house. This house caught fire a few months ago, it was a total loss and the owners wanted it down to start construction on their new home. I didn't tear out the concrete because they plan to build the same style of house back on the foundation. It took two days to tear down and load out in trucks. It was 28 loads in 3 dump trucks to get it hauled off. Thanks for watching! #...

Finished digging and grading the crawlspace. This job took 4 days to complete and I'll be back in a couple of weeks to backfill once the walls are poured. I forgot to get a finally walk around but I did remember to bring the drone to get some shots of it. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #crawlspace

Digging a 9,000sq ft crawlspace. This is at the 3 acre clearing job they finally got the house pinned in and ready for me to start digging. I dug out the front wall to a depth where I found good clay then started hogging that area out. I used the good clay for the driveway area and the stuff with more dirt to build up the front yard. It's starting to take shape after two days. Thanks for watchi...
Rough Grading At The Slab House

Rough grading at the slab house. I finished hauling the big spoil pile off ended up being 55 loads. Then I brought the TL12r2 back over to grade the hillside out and finish shaping the yard. I didn't get a ton of footage because there were a few rounds of rain throughout the day. The yard shaped up pretty nice and I'll be at some point to spread the topsoil and finish the rock on the driveway. ...
Stabilizing A Hillside With Rip Rap

Stabilizing a hillside with rip rap. I finished removing a failing retaining wall that blew out. The wall was over 100 years old and finally gave out from all the rain. Instead of building another wall back we choose to slope the hill and use rip rap to stabilize it from eroding anymore. It took 8 loads of rip rap or about 135 tons. I placed some road fabric down first then put the rip rap on i...

Root raking with the skeleton bucket on the TL12r2. I finished with the clearing and got all the stumps in the fire so I thought I would try the skeleton bucket to clean up the roots and sticks. The bucket worked out pretty well at separating everything out. The lot will definitely need dirt before they can plant any grass seed. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #skeletonbucket
More Clearing On The House Lot

More clearing on the house lot. Back for another day of clearing and burning, I got most all of the trees down. I have a few to clean up along the property lines then go back and rake up the small sticks and limbs. It didn't take much to get the fire going again and the lot is really taking shape. The homeowner is really happy with how open it is and the trees I have left. Another day or so and...

Clearing a 3 acre house lot. Back with the 2150 to start clearing trees on this new home site. I am able to burn here cause it's just out of the city limits. The rainy weather this week is actually nice to burn in it keeps the smoke down plus it's something I can work on when it's wet. I made good progress this first day and the fire really took off with all the dead trees. Thanks for watching!...

Brush mowing a new house lot. Grading The Circle Driveway

Grading the circle driveway. I brought the TL12 today to grade the driveway and yard around the house. I finished cutting down the hill and started shaping it back. I also regraded the west side of the property to get the water to drain around the driveway. Lastly I spread the base rock I saved on the part of the driveway so the other trades don't have to park in the mud. I'll be back in a coup...

Cutting down a circle driveway. Back at the big slab house and the homeowners want to lower the grade of the circle driveway to save on having to put a retaining wall along the edge of it. Does everyone compact backfill around the foundation like you do? I remember Dirt Boss doing it with his excavator vibration attachment. I think it shows your commitment to quality. That WAS steep even for the GMC monster truck you have.

That’s interesting how some homes are built in your area. That’s a lot of back filling to do. I got the pucker factor for you when you went down in the garage and then I got it again when you had to turn it 😁. Thanks for the video Brandon.

Lol, my mind immediately went to the scene in the Austin Powers movie where he was trying to turn the cart around in the hallway when you were in the hole with the roller. The contractors I work for won't let me backfill a foundation like that until they at least have the floor system built so it's less likely to cave in a wall. I think the difference is, we don't see many poured concrete walls, 95% of what I see is laid cinder block walls. Thanks for sharing and happy Independence Day.

🤣 I was thinking the same thing when I was in the garage. That’s probably a good idea on the block walls. They have me wait until the floor in the basement is poured. The framers normally complain if it isn’t backfilled when they are trying to frame. Appreciate you watching and hope you had a good 4th

I believe that builder owns a concrete company. If not, I bet they treat him nicely. It looks he builds bunkers instead of houses. I guess up there in tornado alley a solid concrete wall is reassuring. I'm not sure if ole Jay at JayPaydirt was suppose to let it out about your experience in a tornado but I was sorry to hear about that. I hope you don't ever see anything like it again.

Every summer we have a couple new dumpster companies jump into the business. They always under cut all the competition trying to get established. Most never last more than a few years tops. One company several years ago were into their second year and closed the doors. I knew of a handful of people that had dumpsters on their property/jobs and were stuck with them sitting there for well over a year. While the bankruptcy courts figured things out. Could you imagine having a brand new home that came with a permanent dumpster for the front yard!🤣 They were scattered all over 3 counties! Have a great and safe 4th of July,Elite n Fam!🇺🇸🇺🇸

Simple little house tear down. Oh, don't hit the two sewer cleanouts, don't hit the water supply line, stay off the concrete, don't cave in any of the berm wall and don't let a little blown insulation bother you. I think a second round of burning would have probably helped you. The berm house style always looks like the house got swallowed up into the earth. Strange. It looks like a cool beverage after work project. You made the best of it. Great job, as always.

You did a good job on that cleanup! I built a house like that (about the same size) in 1982, my next to last home I built before going into heavy construction. The south side was glass and the other 3 sides were bermed up with dirt, almost identical as this house. The owners said their utilities were really cheap. It's still being lived in today. It was a fast 6 week build, no bracing required. A concrete floor, 3 walls of concrete, wood interior framing with regular cabinets, carpets, doors and windows, just like a normal home. I'll go away now and quit 'tootin' my own horn...lol.

These videos are always special. Experieince it's what it's all about and we liked your thinking about "slow & steady" being the best way to do this, plus you were very careful working around the house so that worked out nicely. The pile really compacted up better than I thought it would, too, and we always get a kick out of using the old mattresses as a "mop". You should have video'd when you blew it out - I;m sure you were in a big cloud, LOL. Glad you got that interior pic of "before" - the fire really destroyed the place. I grew up in and have now inherited a house similar to that. Great for temperature regulation, storm resistance and so quiet. Just have to keep humidity in check here in north carolina. The design must have been featured in Popular Mechanics or Mother Earth News back in the 60s. I'm too lazy to research that right now, but I think that is where the idea came to Dad.
